Development Concept and Examples of Slagging Mixtures for Thick-Slab Continuous-Casting Molds

Abstract
The studied compositions of slag-forming mixtures (SFMs), their properties and operational characteristics, methods for controlling properties, and the effect of SFM on the quality of continuously cast ingots (slabs) are presented. An optimal SFM composition has been developed and tested in the course of producing thick slabs with the use of reconstructed MNLZ-9 at the JSC NLMK.
