Improving Methods for Monitoring and Diagnostics of the Properties of Metal Structures under the Conditions of Corrosion

Abstract
Known methods for assessing the resistance of steels and alloys with respect to intergranular corrosion cracking have been analyzed. Based on the revealed shortcomings, a novel method for monitoring and diagnostics is proposed, which makes it possible to carry out under direct operating conditions an express assessment of steel and alloy susceptibility with respect to corrosion cracking (delayed destruction) according to analyzing the microhardness of the thereof structural components.
