Technique to Estimate the Properties of Epoxy Composite Materials Used in a Humid Environment

Abstract

The results of experimental studies of epoxy polymer before and after exposure in the climate chamber at high humidity are presented. The mean values of tensile and shear strength as well as the values of standard deviation and coefficient of variation have been determined. It has been found that the injection of dispersed fillers that consist of a mixture of aluminum powder and carbon-containing powder into the epoxy polymer composition makes it possible to reduce the coefficient of variation by 40%. The long-term exposure of epoxy polymer samples in a humid environment led to a slight decrease in the mechanical properties (6%) as well as to a significant increase in the standard deviation (by more than 65%) and the variation coefficient (by 77%).
