<p><b>Background:</b> Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a highly metastatic cancer with the third rank of incidence worldwide. The dysregulation of Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been implicated in the process of carcinogenesis and the advancement of cancer. This discovery suggests the potential for a novel therapeutic strategy in human CRC. LncRNAs have emerged as promising prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers for the early detection of various cancers including CRC. PITPNA-AS1 is a recently discovered lncRNA its dysregulation has been observed in various cancers such as gastric cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and lung cancer. <b>Objective:</b> The objective of the present study was to determine the expression level of PITPNA-AS 1 in CRC patients and evaluate its diagnostic and prognostic biomarker potential in CRC individuals. <b>Methods:</b> Total RNA was isolated. cDNA was synthesized, and QRT-PCR was used to evaluate the PITPNA-AS1 mRNA level in CRC tissues and their corresponding adjacent non-tumorous tissues. Additionally, assessments were conducted of the relationships between PITPNA-AS1 expression levels and clinicopathological characteristics. <b>Results:</b> Based on QRT-PCR results. in comparison to nearby non-tumorous tissues, PITPNA-AS1 expression was more severe in tumorous tissues (<i>P</i>-value &lt; 0.0001). The observed data did not demonstrate a significant correlation between PITPNA-AS1 expression and clinicopathological characteristics. <b>Conclusions:</b> Our research demonstrated that the development of CRC may be influenced by PITPNA-AS1 abnormal expression. Besides, based on our ROC curve analysis, utilizing PITPNA-AS1 as a biomarker for CRC diagnosis may be possible.</p>
