摘要

The use of base editors has been a significant achievement in the field of genomic editing. This approach involves the point-by-point editing of nitrogenous bases in the DNA of living cells. Since such an editing method does not involve the introduction of double-stranded breaks, such as the widespread CRISPR-Cas method, base editors are a promising tool in gene therapy by temporarily altering RNA bases or permanently altering DNA bases. Recent advances in the specificity, effectiveness, accuracy, and delivery of base editors open up new therapeutic possibilities for these technologies. It is assumed that the correction of single nucleotide mutations will become one of the directions of future precision medicine.
