Abstract <p>Infection rate of a population of ixodid ticks with tick-borne encephalitis virus and <i>Borrelia burgdorferi</i> sensu lato is simulated and estimated using the method of maximum likelihood and the method of moments, and their comparative analysis is given. Methods for solving direct and inverse problems of binary object transmission by individual and group observations are reviewed.</p>
