Abstract <p>In this work, the views of the staff of the Pushchino Scientific Center on physical media intended for storing information were studied. The research directions were as follows: (1) to study user awareness of technical means of information storage, (2) to identify the practical use of data storage devices in practice, and (3) on the basis of the opinion of users, to determine the advantages and disadvantages of information carriers. The answers received as a result of the questionnaire made it possible to identify the most popular and obsolete devices for optimizing the existing equipment and planning the subsequent purchase of hardware and software.</p>
