The Сonditions of the Deposit Formation of the Northwestern Caucasus on the Jurassic–Cretaceous Boundary
摘要
Abstract
The results of studying the formation conditions of sediments of the Northwestern Caucasus on the Jurassic–Cretaceous boundary were presented. The obtained data made it possible to clarify the paleo-settings of sedimentation and the sources of erosion of clastic material. Three sedimentation systems were established: carbonate, carbonate–terrigenous, and terrigenous. The paleo-settings at the boundary of the Jurassic and Cretaceous in the Northwestern Caucasus were the transition from shallow-water settings with reef edifices on the shelve edge to relatively deep-sea marine trough settings.
