Abstract <p>This paper presents the main factors of the formation of the Buruktal deposit, including the paleogeographic, paleoclimatic, morphological, petrological, and endogenous factors. A stage scheme for the development of the weathering crust has been developed, providing for the polygenic genesis of the deposit. Based on a comparative analysis, the main features of nickel-bearing weathering crusts, as well as the similarities and differences in their formation conditions of nickel-bearing weathering crusts in the Southern Urals and New Caledonia, have been distinguished.</p>
