A Theory of the Nondissipative Evolution of Misaligned Orbital and Spin Angular Momenta in a Close Binary System
摘要
Abstract
In this contribution we review equations determining the evolution of of the orbital angular momentum vector together with the potentially misaligned rotation axes of the components of a close binary system. We briefly discuss their solution for this dynamical system. These equations incorporate a new ‘‘tidal’’ torque brought about by the action of Coriolis forces that was recently discovered by us. Some potential applications are also discussed.
