Abstract <p>This paper examines the equilibrium state of an electrolyte solution containing an acid and a base in arbitrary ratios. An equation relating the concentrations of the solution components (connection equation) is derived. A method for solving this equation with respect to the hydrogen ion concentration is proposed. The theoretical predictions are compared with experimental titration curves.</p>
