Abstract <p>The experience of the development of digital technologies in geology and the extractive industries, including governmental and private structures, industrial, scientific, and educational facilities, is considered. The results of the use of digital technologies for a wide range of studies of geological exploration and production and its advantages and disadvantages are considered. Approaches that can provide a qualitative increase in knowledge and information in the field of geology are proposed.</p>
