摘要

Lithium demand has been increasing in recent years due to significant growth in the industrial sector, with the growing adoption of electric vehicles driven by a more sustainable lifestyle. However, while the demand for primary lithium extraction is rising, the supply is not proportional. As a result, the acquisition of secondary lithium has become essential, alongside the need and desire for circular production, which includes recovery, treatment, recycling, and ultimately its use in new products. This article provides an analysis of battery recycling and its feasibility, both economically and environmentally, taking into account factors such as minimizing the environmental impact caused by primary lithium production, the main lithium-ion battery recycling processes currently in use, and technological advancements in the development of lithium-ion battery recycling processes.
