摘要

Superhydrophobic coatings are relevant in producing surfaces with anti-fogging, anti-freeze, and self-cleaning properties. In this work, superhydrophobic silicon carbide (SiC) coatings were deposited on stainless steel by air-spraying technique and heat treated at temperatures between 700 and 800 °C using polymer-derived ceramics (PCS) and fillers (graphite sheets and aluminum powders). Our results showed that although the individual components of the coatings were hydrophilic, hydrophobic, and superhydrophobic coatings with water contact angles ranging between 134 and 152° were formed once they were mixed together. The superhydrophobicity of the coatings was correlated with the formation of a hierarchical surface structure induced by the presence of aluminum (Al) particles on top of the graphite sheets, resulting in a surface roughness (Ra) of 19.14 µm.
