摘要

In this work, α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) were used to reinforce a commercial epoxy coating, where 2% w/w of NPs were added to the epoxy matrix. The NPs were synthesized by the coprecipitation method. The Electrochemical Noise (EN) technique was used for the coating evaluation, since this technique is an useful tool for monitoring the coating degradation with the analysis methods of localization index (LI), noise resistance (Rn), Noise Impedance, and discrete Wavelet transform. According to the results of EN with a frequency domain analysis, as well as time–frequency, a localized process was determined from the energy dispersion diagram and the LI. In addition, the coating reinforced with nanoparticles has influenced the corrosion kinetics of the substrate, where, from the Zn, an increase in impedance from 1 × 108  \(\text{Ohms}*\text{cm}^2\) Ohms cm 2 to 1 × 109  \(\text{Ohms}*\text{cm}^2\) Ohms cm 2 was determined for the first day with the addition of NPs, with an increase in the durability of the film.
