<p>Modifying electrolytic cells is essential to enhance ion recovery, obtain purer deposits, or increase current efficiency. This study evaluates the efficiency of various configurations of electrolytic cells for gold recovery from cyanide solutions, comparing single and dual-chamber electrolytic cells while varying electrode pairs, times, potentials, and additives. In single-chamber electrolytic cells (SCEC), the increase of the time and potential result in a higher gold mass deposited on the cathode and the graphite-lead (C-Pb) electrode pair was the most effective. In dual-chamber cells (DCEC), the lead-graphite (Pb-C) pair performed better, although SCEC achieved over four times the gold recovery compared to DCEC. Additionally, the study found that additives like sodium chloride, gelatin, and glue did not favor gold recovery, indicating that their use may not be beneficial in the electrowinning process for gold from cyanide solutions.</p> Graphical abstract <p></p>
