摘要

The Metropolitan area of Nuevo Leon, Mexico currently suffers from serious pollution problems. During the last few years, chemical pollutant compounds have been produced that have short- and long-term direct consequences on human health, the environment, and the climate of our planet. Among the main sources of pollution are vehicle exhaust and industrial emissions. In order to study air of the concentrations of black carbon and organic carbon in University City, San Nicolás de los Garza, two low volume devices were used. Particle samples smaller than 10 microns (PM10) and smaller than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) were collected. The atmospheric particles were characterized and the concentration, weight by gravimetry, composition, and chemical composition were determined by Energy-Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS).
