Synthesis of copper oxide nanoneedles over graphene oxide by sonochemical

摘要

The sonochemical process is a low-cost synthesis technique that can be employed to enhance or modify chemical reactions, resulting in the formation of diverse materials. Nanomaterials like copper oxide and graphene oxide (GO) have had a significant impact on the world due to their plethora of applications. In this study, copper nanoneedles were synthesized using sonochemical, incorporating CuCl2, NaOH, and an addition of GO as initial materials. We used SEM and TEM to examine the sample, and this confirmed the needle’s size of 10 nm. The X-ray diffraction patterns reveal a formation of Cu(OH)2. The elemental mapping confirms the presence of Cu and O and their homogeneous distribution within the Cu(OH)2 nanoneedles. We utilize point defects in GO as they possess the ability to act as binding traps for Cu clusters, thereby enhancing the strength of the interaction and generating Cu(OH)2 nanoneedles by a low-cost method like the sonochemical synthesis.
