摘要

Security is a crucial component of the digital world. Its measures protect data, IT systems, and the functioning of governments, economies, and societies from threats such as cyberattacks. As attacks, such as phishing and ransomware, become increasingly sophisticated, digital security becomes ever more important to ensure stability, compliance, and innovation. This article describes digital threats, including cyberattacks, targeted disinformation, and the misuse of technology. Furthermore, it introduces protection goals such as confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authenticity as requirements for effective security mechanisms. A holistic approach, combining technical, organizational, and behavioral measures across all phases (before, during, and after an attack), is essential. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been shaping the digital security landscape for decades: It enhances defense through faster detection and automated responses but also enables attackers to launch more precise and harder-to-detect attacks. Additionally, AI presents organizations with ethical dilemmas, particularly in balancing security and privacy. Thus, AI is both part of the solution and a new challenge. Digital security is not a one-time effort but a continuous process that demands responsibility, adaptability, and the interplay of technology, organization, and human behavior. Only in this way, a secure and trustworthy digital society can emerge.
