This data provides valuable insights for administrators, citizens, scientists, and decision-makers. Open Data Platforms play a&#xa0;key role in the transparency and governance of these data in smart cities. Introduction and maintaining such platforms require specific competences and knowledge, particularly in data management, analysis, security, visualization, and communication. Competent Open Data City Officers are crucial for effectively using and managing of open data streams and platforms. This article identifies 20&#xa0;necessary competencies and categorizes them into three competence fields that are essential for the education and training of professionals in smart cities.</p>
