摘要

In this article, the specific challenges and drivers of the craftsmanship in digital transformation (DT) are presented. Over the last few decades, DT has gradually established itself in almost all industries, reshaping relationships, interactions, processes and business models, for example. The craft sector is no exception. Although DT offers many advantages, its integration into the crafts sector poses major challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises. A lack of understanding, uncertainties in the introduction, and a lack of trust in the usefulness of DT in the craftmanship lead to its very slow penetration. As a result, opportunities to serve the most fundamental interest of craftmanship remain unused: To improve services for customers and working conditions for employees. This introductory article presents the current status of DT in craftmanship and shows that, despite or perhaps because of digitalization, humans remain at the centre of craftsmanship.
