This article presents an innovative solution for integrating PV systems into the control reserve market using the smart meter infrastructure. In view of the increasing demand for control reserve and the high prices on the market, the efficient control of PV systems is an attractive option for increasing the supply in the control reserve market. Until now, technical and regulatory hurdles have prevented market participation. The article presents a possible solution, validated by laboratory tests, and demonstrates the basic suitability of the proposed technical solution for this purpose. This approach offers new perspectives for the use of renewable energies and their role in the electricity market, particularly with regard to the provision of ancillary services.
