Zur Nutzung von Digitalen Zwillingen zur Entwicklung von Metaverse-Anwendungen

The Metaverse offers an immersive approach to providing services in virtual spaces based on a variety of technologies, such as extended reality. Due to its potential to support business cases, it is becoming increasingly important for organizations. In this context, human-centered development and operational deployment of Metaverse applications can be supported by using digital twin approaches. This article examines existing approaches in this context. The aim is to be able to guide users and developers in the stakeholder-centered and therefore effective use of digital twin technologies for the purpose of developing and using Metaverse applications. The findings presented are based on an analysis of established concepts concerning their suitability, considering the unique requirements that arise from Metaverse applications. Based on an adapted concept of the digital twin, it is not only viewed as a representation of the physical world, but processes that take place exclusively in a digital form are also integrated. We present a corresponding development and deployment framework.
