<p>The 13th edition of the International Phycological Congress (IPC13) was for the first time held in Southeast Asia. The Marine Science Institute of the University of the Philippines successfully bid and hosted the 4-yearly interval event organized by the International Phycological Society (IPS) in the idyllic island of Panglao, Bohol. Participants from 32 countries engaged in the academe and various sectors of the algae industry were immersed into a week full of scientific exchange showcasing a range of global phycological research with highlights on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, aquaculture, and the role of algae in sustainable socio-economic development.</p>
