Image-guided intensity-modulated radiation therapy for a mediastinal thymoma in a Nigerian Dwarf goat: a case report
摘要
Background
The literature on treatment for thymoma in goats is scarce.
Case presentationThis case report describes the treatment of a cranial mediastinal thymoma in a 7-year-old female Nigerian Dwarf goat with palliative intent hypofractionated radiation. The protocol consisted of 4 fractions of 8 Gy (total 32 Gy) on a weekly basis. An objective partial response was confirmed on recheck CT scans after 4- and 10-month post-treatment. The treatment was well tolerated, and no recurrence of clinical signs was observed over the 2 years following treatment.
ConclusionsRadiation therapy may be considered as an alternative treatment option for caprine thymomas.
