Predictive role of C reactive protein/Albumin ratio and neutrophil to albumin ratio in outcome of COPD exacerbation
摘要
Exacerbations of COPD are considered a famous cause of hospital admission and mortality among COPD patients. Many biomarkers have been evaluated as prognostic markers in COPD. Our aim to study predictive role of CAR and NAR in COPD exacerbation outcome.
Patients and methods Retrospective study from 80 Patients having COPD exacerbation who sought medical advice at pulmonary department. Smoking status, CRP, serum albumin, CBC on admission and estimation of NAR and CAR were done and were correlated to the outcome of each patient.
Results CAR and NAR showed statistically significant correlation with need for hospital admission and need of mechanical ventilation. As regard correlation with mortality there was no statistically significance.
Conclusion CAR and NAR may be used as a biomarkers in COPD exacerbation outcome with a good sensitivity and specificity.
