An oral mass revealing systemic sarcoidosis: a case report
摘要
Background
Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic granulomatosis disease. The clinical picture conventionally includes pulmonary lesions and mediastinal lymphadenopathy.
Case presentationWe report the case of a labio-jugal lesion in a 50-year-old woman who revealed systemic sarcoidosis. The diagnosis was suspected on the pathology examination. Treatment with systemic corticosteroid therapy led to lasting remission.
ConclusionsThe oral lesion, though uncommon, may be present as the first manifestation of underlying systemic sarcoidosis. The diagnosis is made on a bundle of clinical, paraclinical arguments, the demonstration of noncaseous granulomas, and the ruling out of other causes of granulomatosis.
