摘要

Background

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (Masson tumor) is a rare, benign vascular tumor characterized by the proliferation of endothelial cells within blood vessels. While it typically affects the skin and subcutaneous tissues, it can occasionally appear in unusual locations.

Case presentation

We report a rare case of Masson tumor located in the right atrial appendage of a healthy individual. This case was complicated by atrial wall rupture and subsequent cardiac tamponade. The tumor was successfully resected under cardiopulmonary bypass.

Conclusion

This case highlights a rare occurrence of Masson tumor in the heart, emphasizing the importance of prompt surgical intervention to prevent life-threatening complications such as cardiac tamponade.
