Resurgence of measles in Bangladesh amid a global upsurge: an urgent call for emergency public health response
摘要
Measles, a highly contagious yet vaccine-preventable disease, is resurging in Bangladesh following a global rise in cases. This study highlights recent epidemiological trends, including widespread transmission across most districts, rising pediatric vulnerability and increased mortality. Many affected children are either too young to be vaccinated or have missed their doses. Vaccination coverage has dropped in recent years due to pandemic-related disruptions, health system challenges, and policy delays, weakening community protection. Urgent steps are needed to improve routine vaccination, carry out catch-up campaigns, and strengthen surveillance to control the outbreak and protect children’s health.
