Purpose <p>Visually impaired individuals may be at greater risk of unhealthy eating habits and mental health problems due to limited sensory cues, reduced autonomy, and increased psychological burden. Both hedonic hunger and mental health problems may influence eating behaviors and body composition. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between mental health, hedonic hunger, and eating habits in visually impaired individuals.</p> Methods <p>A total of 235 visually impaired participants (105 women, 130 men) completed a questionnaire, including sociodemographic and eating habit forms, the General Health Questionnaire-12, and the Power Food Scale. Anthropometric measurements such as body mass index, height, weight, and waist circumference were recorded. We performed comparative, correlational, and regression analyses.</p> Results <p>Most participants are between the ages of 35 and 49 (37%). The sample had a mean BMI of 26.95 ± 5.74&#xa0;kg/m², with 22.6% categorized as obese. Results showed that 59.6% were at risk for mental health issues, and 70.2% experienced hedonic hunger. Those at mental health risk were more likely to skip meals (67.9% vs. 51.6%) and eat at night (32.9% vs. 21.1%). However, eating habits did not significantly differ according to hedonic hunger status. Body mass index (β = 0.044; <i>p</i> &lt; 0.001) and mental health risk (β = 0.016; <i>p</i> &lt; 0.001) were significantly associated with hedonic hunger.</p> Conclusion <p>These findings suggest that mental health problems may influence some eating behaviors, whereas hedonic hunger appears to be more closely related to anthropometric indicators such as BMI. Therefore, interventions targeting visually impaired individuals should consider both psychological factors and appetite-related mechanisms to better understand dietary behaviors and potential risks related to body composition.</p>
