<p>The aim of this study was to assess the food consumption of the Brazilian population through the lens of the intersectionality between sex and race/skin color. This is a cross-sectional study using data from the 2023 Vigitel survey, involving adults aged 18&#xa0;years and older. Food consumption was measured using a score based on the intake on the previous day of 12 unprocessed/minimally processed foods (UN/MP) and 12 ultra-processed foods (UPF), classified according to the degree of industrial processing. The score ranged from 0 (higher UN/MP and lower UPF consumption) to 24 points (lower UN/MP and higher UPF consumption). The score was then categorized into “higher-quality diet” (below the 75th percentile) and “lower-quality diet” (at or above the 75th percentile). Intersectionality was analyzed by combining the variables sex (male, female) and race/skin color (White, Black—including Black and Brown individuals), resulting in four groups: White men, Black men, White women, and Black women. Data analysis included Pearson’s chi-square test and simple and multiple logistic regression, adjusted for age, education level, and marital status (<i>p</i> &lt; 0.05). The sample included 21,690 adults. In the adjusted analysis, Black women were found to be 29% more likely (OR: 1.29; 95% CI: 1.06–1.45) to have a lower-quality diet compared to White men. The study results reveal poorer diet quality among self-identified Black individuals, especially women, characterized by a lower-quality dietary pattern.</p>
