Spatial design insights for security studies: digital space for research procedures and strategic actions
摘要
Starting from the paradigm of convergence of spatially-oriented sciences and spatial research and design, the article addresses issues related to digital environments and systems as instruments for spatial research and investigative procedures, hybrid intelligence, and provision of reliable proofs for scientific argumentation, strategic spatial decisions, actions, and interventions. It has been presumed that previously established cross-disciplinary relations could be reinvestigated in the light of the more recent techno-social and techno-scientific advancements, particularly connectivity between spatial, urban, and architectural studies and security studies. In that respect, concepts of spatiality of security and spatial security have been introduced. Next, design research methodologies have been proposed to complement the security studies, enabling them to acquire design capacities. In such reference, concepts of security design, security design research, and security design research methodology have been coined. Finally, digital spatial information and intelligence systems, or digital spatial environments and models, have been proposed as tools and formats through which stated concepts can be applied and investigated, offering new spatial and design insights for security studies.
