Background <p>Although circumflex aorta is a rare congenital disease, it can be diagnosed at different ages.</p> Case presentation <p>This congenital disease has been reported as both right circumflex aorta and left circumflex aorta. To the best of our knowledge, circumflex aorta extending into the cervical/cervical vertebral region is exceptionally rare, with very few comparable reports in the literature. Therefore, in this case, we present our experiences regarding surgical considerations in these patients.</p> Conclusion <p>Although circumflex aorta is a rare congenital disease given the elevated aortic arch in these patients, meticulous care must be taken to protect the recurrent laryngeal nerve, thyroid gland, and parathyroid glands.</p>

Background

Although circumflex aorta is a rare congenital disease, it can be diagnosed at different ages.

Case presentation

This congenital disease has been reported as both right circumflex aorta and left circumflex aorta. To the best of our knowledge, circumflex aorta extending into the cervical/cervical vertebral region is exceptionally rare, with very few comparable reports in the literature. Therefore, in this case, we present our experiences regarding surgical considerations in these patients.

Conclusion

Although circumflex aorta is a rare congenital disease given the elevated aortic arch in these patients, meticulous care must be taken to protect the recurrent laryngeal nerve, thyroid gland, and parathyroid glands.
