<p>West Africa and the Sahel are in the midst of what the UNHCR terms a “crisis of displacement” as millions of people are being compelled to leave their homes due to conflict and environmental threats. Forced displacement and its effects on health in this region remain under-researched, however, leaving little evidence on which to base policy and clinical interventions that would serve to improve not only displaced populations’ well-being, but public health more broadly. This perspective paper argues for the broader adoption of migration corridors as a framework of study for filling this shortfall in the literature,explaining the analytical lens’s particular usefulness in this domain as well as postulating why it has not been embraced more widely to date.</p>
