Background <p>Ganglioneuromas are the rarest and most benign of the neuroblastic tumors. Although generally benign, multiple retroperitoneal ganglioneuromas have been documented. However, only one case in previous studies underwent complete resection of all retroperitoneal lesions while the follow-up time was relatively short.</p> Case presentation <p>Here, we presented two female patients in their twenties who were diagnosed as multiple retroperitoneal ganglioneuromas by percutaneous biopsy, with tumor involvement in adrenal, retroperitoneal and pelvic regions. Complete excision of all detectable lesions was performed by laparoscopic dissection. Both patients had a good postoperative recovery and remained recurrence-free at the 5-year follow-up.</p> Conclusions <p>To our knowledge, the present study firstly reported cases of multiple retroperitoneal ganglioneuromas with a 5-year follow-up, indicating the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic dissection of multiple retroperitoneal ganglioneuromas.</p>
