Background <p>Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) is a rare congenital phacomatosis disorder. choroidal hemangioma (CH) is one of the most common ocular manifestations. The advancements in swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA) provide us a comprehensive view of the CH. Here we present a case of CH in SWS and emphasize the utility of ultra-widefield SS-OCTA imaging for detection of the lesion.</p> Case presentation <p>A 59-year-old female complained of vision loss in her right eye received multimodal ophthalmological imaging, including ultra-widefield SS-OCTA. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) of the right eye revealed a thickened subfoveal choroid. The ultra-widefield SS-OCTA image, capturing a 130ฒ view of the fundus, identified a distinct, large-sized hemangioma. Taking into account the presence of a port-wine stain on the eyelid and distention of conjunctival vessels, the patient was ultimately diagnosed with Sturge-Weber syndrome.</p> Conclusions <p>Ultra-widefield SS-OCTA is a noninvasive imaging technique that enables comprehensive visualization of the retinal microstructure and vascular architecture across a wide expanse of the fundus. This advanced modality proves to be highly valuable in the diagnosis of asymptomatic choroidal hemangiomas and monitoring the progression of these lesions over time.</p>

Background

Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) is a rare congenital phacomatosis disorder. choroidal hemangioma (CH) is one of the most common ocular manifestations. The advancements in swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA) provide us a comprehensive view of the CH.
