Melioidosis: diverse clinical manifestations and patient outcomes in a case series
摘要
Melioidosis, caused by the gram-negative facultative intracellular bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei, is a complex and variable disease with a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations. It is primarily transmitted through exposure to wet-season soils or contaminated water. This case series presents five patients diagnosed with melioidosis, highlighting their diverse clinical presentations, diagnostic challenges, treatment approaches, and outcomes. The discussion includes a review of current literature on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and management of melioidosis.
