Objective <p>This study was to investigate CYP2C19 gene and their association with <i>H. pylori</i> infection in the region of Hainan.</p> Methods <p>We conducted CYP2C19 genotype analysis in Hainan. The genotyping technique employed was MALDI-TOF-MS and a subset of participants underwent the 14&#xa0;C-UBT.</p> Results <p>The frequencies of CYP2C19*1, CYP2C19*2, CYP2C19*3, and CYP2C19*17 were 63.6%, 30.83%, 4.79%, and 0.78%, respectively.The frequency of the rapid metabolism type was 1.3%, normal metabolic type was 40.9%, medium metabolic type was 44.3%, and poor metabolism type was 13.4%. The frequencies of the four alleles and eight genotypes were not diverse among cities, BMI, genders, and ethnic. There were no significant differences in the frequencies of alleles, genotypes, and metabolic phenotypes between the <i>H. pylori</i> positive and negative groups.</p> Conclusion <p>In Hainan, China, the predominant CYP2C19 genotype is *1/*1, and the predominant metabolic type is the intermediate one. CYP2C19 gene polymorphisms are not associated with <i>H. pylori</i> infection.</p>

Objective
