<p>As prolific producers of extracellular lytic enzymes and antimicrobial natural products, <i>Lysobacter</i> strains have garnered great interest over the past decade. Three gram-stain-negative, aerobic, short rod bacterial strains with flagella, designated A3-1-A15<sup>T</sup>, D1-1-M9<sup>T</sup> and D1-1-M8, were isolated from the shore soil of Longmucuo Lake in the Xizang Autonomous Region, China. Comparisons of the 16&#xa0;S rRNA gene sequences confirmed their affiliation with the genus <i>Novilysobacter</i>. Strain A3-1-A15<sup>T</sup> presented the highest similarity of the 16&#xa0;S rRNA gene sequence to <i>Novilysobacter selenitireducen</i> 13A<sup>T</sup> (97.75%), whereas strains D1-1-M9<sup>T</sup> and D1-1-M8 were most closely related to <i>Novilysobacter erysipheiresistens</i> RS-LYSO-3<sup>T</sup>, showing 97.80% similarity. The genomic DNA G + C contents of strains A3-1-A15<sup>T</sup>, D1-1-M9<sup>T</sup> and D1-1-M8 were 67.46%, 68.79% and 67.85%, respectively, based on the genome sequence data. The ANI values of strains A3-1-A15<sup>T</sup> and D1-1-M9<sup>T</sup> with <i>N. selenitireducens</i> A13<sup>T</sup> and <i>N. erysipheiresistens</i> CICC 23,922<sup>T</sup> were 84.45%/78.03% and 79.41%/79.81%, respectively. Corresponding dDDH values were 49.7%/23.2% and 24.7%/25.4%, all below the species thresholds, confirming two novel <i>Novilysobacter</i> species. The main polar lipids included diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylglycerol. The major cellular fatty acids were summed feature 9 (C<sub>16:0</sub> 10-methyl and/or iso-C<sub>17:1</sub><i>ω</i>9<i>c</i>), iso-C<sub>15:0</sub>, iso-C<sub>16:0</sub>, iso-C<sub>11:0</sub> and iso-C<sub>11:0</sub> 3-OH. Protease production was confirmed through genomic data and physiological experiments. In summary, these findings support the proposal of two novel species within the genus <i>Novilysobacter</i>: <i>N. viscosus</i> sp. nov. and <i>N. longmucuonensis</i> sp. nov. The type strains for <i>N. viscosus</i> sp. nov. and <i>N. longmucuonensis</i> are A3-1-A15<sup>T</sup> (= CGMCC 1.19188<sup>T</sup> = KCTC 92144<sup>T</sup>) and D1-1-M9<sup>T</sup> (= CGMCC 1.19230<sup>T</sup> = KCTC 92146<sup>T</sup>), respectively.</p>
