On the Responses of Plants to Exposure to Different Highly Dispersed Metallurgical-Waste Components

Abstract

The waste of metallurgical production (slag, sludge) contains a sufficient number of elements necessary for plant nutrition. Having different compositions, highly dispersed waste can affect the acidity of their suspensions and, consequently, the soil. Changes in the physiological, biochemical and molecular-genetic parameters in plant cells and tissues under the influence of highly dispersed particles of varying intensity are studied. The addition of 2 tons per hectare of sludge increases the wheat yield by 12.9%. Slag is characterized by a positive effect when its content in the soil is up to 1 ton per hectare. Studies of the impact of slag and sludge of varying intensity, carried out on the same object under strictly controlled environmental conditions, will allow an understanding of the mechanisms of interaction of highly dispersed compounds and living systems.
