Abstract <p>The article examines social distancing as a social interaction process among residents of the Russian city of Novosibirsk. Scientific and practical interest in Novosibirsk is because this megalopolis ranks fourth in Russia in terms of migrant flow. Based on the results of the sociological study “The State of the Social Situation, Interethnic, and Interfaith Relations in Novosibirsk,” conducted since 2018 using one model of a multidimensional, stratified sample population, the authors concluded that the social distance in relations with migrants has increased in the city, while integration along ethnic lines has increased. The article classifies types of social interaction. It has been proven that those who have personally experienced violations of their rights due to their ethnicity, to one degree or another, see grounds for conflictual relationships and conflicts.</p>
