Abstract <p>The present study was based on traditional ethnographic data collection by interviewing 270 herbal tea seller’s informants and local residents. Information of herbal tea plants was collected through surveys of local people, especially from local market herbal tea sellers. The collected specimens were identified using the flora of Pakistan. The data was analyzed using the Use Value (UV), Relative Frequency Citation (RFC), (FL) Fidelity level and other quantitative indices. During this study, we collected and identified 140 herbal plants species belong to 63 families and 114 genera. In the present study herbs were the most commonly used life form by the local inhabitants represents 86 plant species. In the study, Leaves shows the highest number of species (37), followed by Whole plant (21). This study also reveals that decoction showing the highest percentage of plant species (60%), followed by infusion represents (27%). According to the informants, the plants were used medicinally and 71 different kinds of diseases treatment have been reported in this study. Quantitative indices revealed <i>Lantana camara</i> L. and <i>Carica papaya</i> L. (0.36) with the highest UV value, <i>Diospyros lotus</i> L. with the highest RFC (0.90) While <i>Peganum</i> <i>harmala</i> L. (86.2) with the highest fidelity level. This ethnobotanical study was conducted for the first time in the study area to document ethnobotanical and traditional knowledge of herbal tea plants. Our findings suggest that these herbal tea plant plays an important role in primary health care for the local people of the district Swabi. The results of this study provide useful and relatively complete information about herbal tea plants, which can help preserve the wisdom of the local use of herbal tea plants in this region. Although herbal teas can effectively prevent and treat many types of diseases.</p>
