Use of IR Spectroscopy to Assess the Effect of Fine Powders Made of Local Mineral Raw Materials on Structure Formation of Sulfur Binders

Abstract
The structure formation of binders based on technical sulfur modified with finely dispersed powder consisting of limestone and natural zeolite is studied by IR spectroscopy. It is found that the modification promotes a change in the structure of technical sulfur owing to a decrease in the sizes of the crystals and chemical interaction of some part with the formation of sulfides, polysulfides, and polythionates, which makes it possible to improve the main physical and mechanical properties of concretes based on it.
