<p>The authors conduct an analytical review of methods for applying barrier coatings to carbon fiber for the purpose of using them in metal matrix composites. The most promising methods for applying ceramic coatings are identified. The features of the sol-gel method and electrophoretic deposition on carbon fiber and the trends of their development are described.</p>
