Abstract

Using bending test, the microstructure, hardness, and strength of the platelike samples obtained by hot compaction of titanium with different dispersivities and carbon contents have been examined. The powders were capsulated into tight containers and pressed after short-term heating in a furnace to 900°С. The deformation scheme ensured mainly shear deformation with a lateral support preventing cracking. The highest hardness and bending strength were obtained on a fine PTOM-1 powder containing 0.32 wt % of hydrogen. Additional vacuum annealing of the PTOM-1 powder compacts increased the bending strength by 60%.
