Modification of Silica-Based Sorbent for Chromatographic Processes Using Nepheline Concentrate
摘要
The paper presents the results of research on the preparation of a SiO2-based sorbent modified by organic radical with a long carbon skeleton C18, which can be used in analytical chromatography. The surface modification of the initial sorbent obtained on the basis of sulfuric acid decomposition of nepheline concentrate was carried out by the addition of an alkyl radical through the water condensation reaction between the surface hydroxyl group of silica and an organic acid corresponding to the grafted radical. The resulting modified sorbent has a specific surface area of 375 m2/g, which corresponds to analogs used in analytical chromatography. The successful modification was confirmed by characteristic peaks on the IR spectrum of the silica modified by the organic radical.
