Development and Research of Hydrogel Materials Based on Hydroxyapatite and Sodium Alginate

Hydrogel materials containing sodium alginate and hydroxyapatite obtained by demineralization of cattle bones were studied. The result of research of viscosity established the optimal content of sodium alginate in the solution. The swelling time of sodium alginate of the used brand and manufacturer was determined. The hydrogel material studies using optical microscopy showed that hydroxyapatite microparticles have a predominantly spherical shape and are uniformly distributed in the studied samples. A toxicity test showed that the hydrogel materials meet the requirements for safe use in terms of sanitary-chemical and toxicological-hygienic indicators, which indicates the advisability of further study of these materials. The possibility of their use for targeted delivery of biologically active substances inside the body should be confirmed after a full range of necessary tests for compliance with the required standards.
