<p><b>Abstract</b>—The enhancement of wear resistance of steel components operating under friction conditions remains highly relevant. To address this issue, ion implantation is an efficient method applicable to small-sized parts like pistons in refrigeration systems. It has been established that implanting the surface of steel St45 with tin ions can increase the wear resistance of samples by 3 to 4 times. Sequential implantation with tin and nitrogen ions allowed for an increase in wear resistance by 18 to 22 times. This phenomenon is based on the effect of changing the wear type owing to the formation of spherical particles of Sn<sub>3</sub>N<sub>4</sub> in the surface layer of steel St45.</p>
