Abstract <p>This paper presents the results of a study of the possibility of using cryolite as a fluxing-strengthening additive and examines the mechanism of formation of a cryolite-alumina melt with the participation of aluminum oxide in the composition of low-plasticity clay during firing. The influence of the resulting melt on the formation of a ceramic structure and its main physical and mechanical properties is shown.</p>
