Study of the Corrosion Inhibition of API N80 Steel by Potassium Dichromates and 5-Methyl-1H-benzotriazol
摘要
Abstract
In the industry, infrastructure used in the oil and gas industry or for water transportation is in the form of pipes. Today, many pipelines are in operation in the oil and gas industry and are manufactured from carbon steel of API specification and different grades. In this study, the effect of potassium dichromate K2Cr2O7 and 5-methyl-1H-benzotriazol (5MBT) on the corrosion behavior of American Petroleum Institute (API) N80 steel in Albian water (aquifer water) was studied. For the electrochemical analysis we have realized new experimental test bench, the inhibitory efficiency of each compound was evaluated using polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Polarization studies showed that both inhibitors were anodic.
